The Economist Intelligence Unit surveyed 461 senior government executives in a recent report. Their responses are convincing- it’s time to go digital. But why should your business make the change to new digital processes? You can download the full report, for free, below:

 Many European governments are investing in online to substitute expensive in-person, physical interactions. Copenhagen estimates that a face-to-face interaction costs 27 times more than digital self-service.

 In the same way, handling and processing a physical documents costs your business money. Paper documents are expensive to produce and store long-term. Cutting out paper can earn you back that money.

  

  1. Save time

 Ryan Heath, spokesperson for the Vice-President of the European Commission, notes the time savings of digital. Now, citizens can interact with the government from their homes. This reduces travel and queuing times. But what does this mean for your business?

 Handling physical documents which could be digital is a waste of your workers’ time. Digitising your data processes will earn back time, improving your employees’ efficiency.

  

  1. Improved client experience

 Going digital will have direct benefits for your employees, but also for your clients. Offering digital services to your clients makes interfacing with you easier. Mr Heath also commented that e-services are accessible to citizens 24/7. This makes them more convenient.

 Your clients will appreciate the benefits of digital in the same way. They will be able to interact with your organisation from the comfort of their homes. Clients will favour an organisation which can provide a top-tier user experience.

  

  1. Give the people what they want

 Mehis Sihvart, director of the Estonian Centre for Registers and Information Systems adds comment. He confirms there is a huge demand for e-services among citizens. This is unsurprising given the ease and convenience that digital can offer. But your business should take note- your clients want digital.

 People have no patience for paper processes. They are used to interacting socially through online and mobile devices. They expect to be able to deal with businesses in the same way. So meet your clients’ expectations, and update your processes.

  

  1. Enable new technology

 Digitising your data and documents can pave the way for even more new technology. These new technologies will allow even further advancements in your organisation.
